Behaviour Consultations

My Professional Indemnity Insurance & Behaviourists Code of Practice prohibit me from giving generic advice without a consultation on veterinary referral or after a full veterinary check-up. I cannot, therefore, offer any advice without first going through the consultation process with you .

I prefer, if possible, to conduct behavioural consultations at the home of the cat and owner because, through face-to-face meetings and seeing for myself the environment a cat lives in, I can pick up valuable clues as to the cause of the problem and the best way to help. However, if you and your cat live some distance from me - I live in East Suffolk - I appreciate that a visit may be impractical and uneconomic, so I also offer remote consultations, using email.

Face-to-Face Consultations

If you require a Face-to Face consultation, I will visit you and your cat and stay for 1 1/2 - 2 hours, during which time I will take a full history of your cat's life and problems, then discuss why I think the problem is occurring and what should be done to help. I then write a full report which I will send to you so that you can refer to it at any time. Your vet also gets a shortened version of the report.

I require a veterinary referral for Face-to-Face consultations.

Remote Consultations

If you’ would like a remote consultation I can do that without a formal referral as long as the vet has checked, prior to the consultation, that your cat's problems are not due to any physical cause. – I will need to contact your vet prior to the consultation to confirm your cat is physically healthy.
 
The way it works is as follows: I will email you a questionnaire which you complete and return. If I require any further information that that given on the form, I will email you for it. I then write and email a report outlining what I think are the causes of the problem and advising on ways to help.

Remote consultations are as thorough as possible, so I may ask you for details that I would normally be able to see for myself, e.g. your cat's body posture in certain situations or some details of the layout and furniture of your house.

Consultation Prices

Face-to Face Consultation: £140 plus travel (40 pence/mile) if over 15 miles from my address.

Remote Consultation: £50
